Reuniting Body, Breath & Mind

Listen to the Niggles

One question during class can open a whole new approach to the way I teach a pose.

“Why does my back hurt in this pose?”

Why indeed?

Sometimes it takes delving and questions to answer a question.

More information is required.

Does your back hurt at any other time? All the time?

When walking? Gardening? Sitting? Driving? Hanging out the washing? Doing the Vacuuming? Lifting the Grandies?

If the back has a recurring niggle or pinch or whatever is felt and described…

If that niggle is felt often or all the time is it therefore likely to be felt in a Yoga pose?

I encourage you and your body to think and feel, to communicate in the felt sense.

Your mind will do the thinking, your body will do the feeling.

What you need to do is listen, and adjust.

But how does that change my approach to teaching a pose?

Because I listen to, and try and find a way to teach a deconstructed pose – from the grounding points.
